Welcome to my new cozy spot on the interwebz. Yep, I hopped to WordPress. I’m not sure what will happen to Eye Heart It, yet, but I’ve lately felt like I wanted to engage with my online friends again in some way, without the constraints of having to post within the context of beauty products. So here we are. I’m not committing to any sort of blogging schedule, or subject matter. I have opinions on things that I’d like to share and elicit responses to (movies, books, current events, and yes, still beauty), but I also have come to the conclusion that I like words much more than photos, and I am better at crafting words than taking photos.
How was everyone’s New Year? We went to dinner at Cinghiale in Fells Point. Dinner was lovely, though service was simply perfunctory and not quite what I’d expected. Still, the company is always wonderful and it’s fun to dress up, get glamorous, and eat delicious and indulgent food. We also had the experience of trying a bunch of Italian wines – we’re not familiar with the regions and varietals at all, so it was nice to do the pairing (it was a prix fixe menu with suggested pairings). We also did the clever thing and took a picture of the menu, so we could remember the dishes as they came out, and remember the wines.
Then I went to bed before midnight, because I have a cold and sound like a frog, and couldn’t risk turning into a pumpkin when the clock struck. S woke me up to tell me happy new year, and let me go back to sleep. I woke up this morning to pancakes and coffee, we kicked off the new year right with an episode of Phineas and Ferb, and then took the dogs for a walk, and came back to put away the Christmas decorations and tree. I’m not a particularly festive person, but it is a bit sad to say goodbye to the holiday season, when everyone makes an effort to be nice to fellow humans and pass along good cheer. Now we don’t have any colorful lights or presents to distract us from the fact that we elected Voldemort as president (actually, he’s probably not clever enough to be Voldemort…he’s more like Wormtail, isn’t he?), and it’s time to face the music.
But I’m actually an optimist, and I have to hope that the new year will bring good things, despite our fears. Happy new year to you and yours.
Happy new year!!!
I am so happy to see your post. And a new blog! 😃
Our new years has been good – yesterday we watched the firedworks on the rooftop of our building , now drinking local beer at a bar watching the game after a short trip to a church. 😉

Ahhhh, I had every good intention of replying to comments in a timely manner T_T This is why I don’t make resolutions.
I’m happy to see your posts back, too! I haven’t caught up on any yet, I feel so terrible, but I’m only just starting to get back into more involved forms of community. Social media (Twitter & Instagram) are honestly the easiest, but I do love reading posts! I can’t be on the internet for non-work things at work either, though, so perhaps that’s it, HA. Happy new year, Lena!

Yay!! I’m so happy to have more of you in the blogosphere 🙂 I look forward to hearing (really seeing, I suppose, since written words are a visual medium) your thoughts on miscellany. Y’all looked super fly for your NYE dinner! That meal sounds amazing.
Also, lols at Wormtail. That seems about his intelligence level, though he’s much less sycophantic than Pettigrew…I kind of view him as a combination of the worst parts of Voldemort (the powerful figurehead for all the terrible -isms), Bellatrix (the psychopathic disregard for other people), and now Wormtail (the idiocy and, deep down, just wanting to belong). I’m still shell-shocked, honestly, but I’m readying myself for the battles ahead! And reminding myself that all the good people haven’t suddenly disappeared, and together, we can hopefully make a difference.
Happy new year to you and S and the fluffies!

Hurray, hopefully I can lure you out with very engaging, uh, stuff. LOL. I miss seeing you around!
And thank you! We started going to dinner a few years ago (we got engaged on NYE some years ago, lol – does that make us sound ANCIENT? IT DOES. FFS.) and it’s a great “tradition.” I love getting dressed up and doing everything to the nines!

We try! It’s a bit of a tradition now, I suppose, although we usually go out early and come home early because we’re just not into being out that late these days, LOL. This year I fell asleep before midnight…T_T
Happy new year, Amy!

S is a dapper gentleman indeed. And you rock all sorts of boots. Look at those legs! It’s so sweet S actually woke you up to wish you Happy New Year 🙂 We just wrapped text books into 1 in the morning, and didn’t even wish each other happy new year. Hahaha! The kids were excited though. But they’ll be back to school tomorrow, and they have mixed feelings. And I know Ashton will miss having the older sisters around the whole day.
I on the other hand, am super happy to see you (kinda) back! I added this new blog into my Feedly immediately. I missed reading your entries, so keep them coming 🙂 Happy New Year Larie, to S and the doggies too, and it’s great to be optimistic. It gives us hope, and that’s what keeps us going in the right direction.

Thanks, Lily! Man, I love these boots, LOL. I don’t think I could move back to a place without four seasons! I have such a boot problem. It’s a real problem, lol.
Happy new year to you and your family! That sounds like a cozy, sweet new year, though, surrounded by family!
And thank you! I’M TRYING. I have so many posts to catch up on – I don’t know if I can do it. Y’all have been too good! LOL.

We try! We’ve been going to dinner on NYE for a few years now, and I love dressing up and doing it well, haha! But we’re always home by nine, LOL. This year I was asleep by 11 PM, too, I think…we’re ancient, Gaelle.
